YOU Beauty Discovery Advent Calendar

I recently purchased the YOU Beauty Discovery Advent Calendar from YOU Beauty Discovery online and it came into my mail by 30/11!

Just in case you don't know what a advent calendar is, it is actually a special calendar used to count or celebrate the days in anticipation of Christmas, it normally starts on 1 December. As for a beauty advent calendar, it is a calendar filled with 25 different beauty products and you open one door to discover one new product everyday. It is so much fun in opening each door every day, 'cause you will never expect what's inside.

I will keep track of my advent calendar experience on my Instagram by posting a video of unboxing and showing you all the product everyday. If you would like to know what I get everyday, check out my Instagram account @jacqtalks :)

*I will try to do a review on some products that I really like/ dislike here.

Review: Dewy Tree Trehalose Aqua Solution Mask

Long time no blog! I have been extremely busy with assignments and exam these days. I hate exams :/ especially when I have a few exams packed in 2 days! I enjoy putting on facial masks whenever I want to take a break from revision lol so I think it's a good time to a review on this Dewytree mask too!

This mask is made in Korea and it claims that it has extracts from the plants in desert therefore very moisturising.

NOTD: Chanel

I own a few Chanel polishes but all are in Hong Kong's home at the moment so I don't really have chance to paint with those. Recently, one of my really good friends bought me some new nail polishes from the Chanel Spring 2013 collection and I tried to paint them on my nails. He bought me May 535 and Frisson 543. And I tried 535 May today :)

NOTD: Look Beauty

Look Beauty's Nail Pop nail varnishes always surprise me with its colour paid off whenever I use it. I used Grape Juice today. Look at the colour below! With 2 coats, it gave me a really nice opague purple colour :) And I think these nail polishes are very affordable, selling at £5 each. I got them online which was even cheaper, 2 for £6! Such a bargain :D I might get some more of these later on! Love them <3

Overview
My thumb - My hands look whiter with this nail polish!

NOTD: L'Oreal

I painted my nails yesterday with a new nail polish I bought from Superdrugs for the sake of the V day. But aww I love this nude pink colour so much, it makes my hands look whiter now. I am pretty impressed by the colour for this nail polish, with one coat, it's quite opague already. I wanted a more solid pink color, therefore I went for 2 coats and topped with my Sally Hansen top cat. Even my boyfriend praised my nail color (first time he did that :-o) during our vday dinner. I am really like this collection of nail polishes, the packaging looks really nice as well. Mini but elegant :)

Haul time! Sephora at Rome

I got a few beauty/skincare products from Sephora during my trip at Rome. It's my first time visiting Sephora hahhaa so I purchased some of their products instead of products from other brands.. even though I really want to get some goodies from Urban Decay and Too Faced... ><

Here are the things I bought in Sephora...
Sephora day cream with SPF 15 - tried on my hands, not too thick nor sticky but it gives a dewy finish on my hands.. looking forward to try them out!

Sephora single eyeshadow - N.26
Very pigmented and love the shimmery bit. It becomes my go-to eyeshadow now :D

Swatch on my hand - can't really see the pigmentation on screen, but the colour really pops out when I put that on my lids :)
Sephora Rouge Shine Lipstick - N.39

Swatch on my hand - Quite shimmery and the color is very buildable!
Sephora Professionnel Smudge brush No. 14

Sephora Daily Makeup Brush Cleaner - Heard reviews on these for quite a while, finally got to try it. I think it's quite good for cleaning brushes on a daily basis, the scent is quite nice too. I used to use the MAC ones but now I like this more as it is uses a spray bottle. You need to pour the MAC one out yourself  to clean the brushes but I normally pour too much of it...
That's it for my Sephora haul! I wish there is a Sephora in the UK too..

Highlight of the week - Too Faced Face Primer

Since there's a 25% discount for university students on ASOS last week, therefore I purchased quite a lot of good stuff from ASOS [ASOS stop offering me discounts.. Or else I won't have enough money to buy flight tickets to go home lol]
So I bought this 'Too Faced Primed & Poreless Pure Oil-free Skin Smoothing Face Primer for sensitive skin'  which I have wanted for quite a while at £18! SUCH A BARGAIN! In ASOS, it said that this product is exclusively sold in ASOS which I couldn't get in Boots or so.
As I have used the eyeshadow insurance from Too Faced for 2 years, I understand how consistent their products are. So I tried this primer since Sunday.. wooohooo it's really good, kinda comparable to the Pore Professional by Benefit Cosmetics :)
I have mixed skin type which I have an oily t-zone area but dry cheek area which sucks when putting on foundation, I always appear to be super oily on picture because of this. But with this primer, the oily nose disappeared! After wearing this primer for 8 hours with my Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua foundation on, my face still looked like the state when I just applied makeup on, so matte <3 ! Tried this primer in different weather, both humid and dry, it's still worked super good on me :) Aww simply love it! Time to trash my Shu uemura primer.. :P

Here is the picture of the primer.
Love the packaging, so princessy :)

Highlight of the week - NARS

I planned to do a weekly post on my 'highlight of the week' starting from today! The highlight can be a beauty product, a cosmetic product, nice snack... just something amazing I discover in a week :)

So here you go my first post of highlight of the week -

NARS  Skin Luminous Moisture Cream

Recently, I have bought a eyeshadow palette from Nars and was given a sample of this luminous moisture cream as a complementary gift. So, I started using it as my night cream.. oh my god it's super moisturizing! My skin still felt hydrated after a night's sleep with radiator on! The texture is quite thick but during application, it applies on smoothly and you will not feel greasy afterwards :)

Here's the picture of the cream...

Swatch of the cream...

I am loving this product a lot, will probably purchase a full size of this after finishing my current night cream!

My preferences: EyeBrows!

I used to hate my thick brows 'cause it's so thick and dark but after the K-POP influence, girls start to have thicker brows now! (which is good for me hahaa) I am always looking for high quality and high consistency brow makeup to fill my tiny gap at the end of my brows.. Here are some products I have used so far and I really like it :)

KATE Brow Powder [Ex-5]
I have used the same palette for over a year and it still hasn't hit pan! (I almost use this every day) I normally mix the 2 dark shades to fill in my gaps and sometimes, the lightest shade to contour the bridge of my nose. The mini brush attached in this palette is quite good actually, the hair is not too soft nor hard which is good for filling in your brows :)

shu uemura Brow Pencil [03]
This is my first brown pencil I've ever own and I like this a lot too! There is a special shape of this pencil (not shown in this photo unfortunately :/ ) which makes drawing your brows so easy! But for me, I must use a brow brush to blend my brows afterwards, or else it the lines are going to be too harsh for my brows.. I think it suits darker brown hair or hair with red under tone :)

Colour My Brows by Etude House [01]
I bought this brow gel simply because of the brand lol I like Sandara Park from 2NE1 a lot..and she's the spokeperson of this brand so I just get it to 'support' her lol..
However, this product is totally out of my expectation! The color consistency is quite high, very water proof (but you can easily remove it with makeup remover!) and high pigmented. But it dries out quite quickly.. which sucks cause I can't really get these in the UK! : (

And recently, I read 'Stylesuzi's blogpost and I think I am gonna try the Brow Perfect from Look Beauty! It looks quite amazing as it's only 12 pounds but with brow gel, a mini tweezer and an assortment of shades to fill your brows.. so I don't really have to get new brow products whenever I change my hair color! The other netural shades are good for eyeshadow/eyeliner as well :) Can't wait to try it out!

What do you use to color your brows?
